Dear HipChick,

I love you for your radiant, beautiful being. When I describe you to people I always describe you - ALWAYS describe you - as a goddess. To do otherwise would be to miss a fundamental detail of your essence. As you grapple with the mysteries of your life, sparks of light fly here and there and help us all in our own dogged endeavors. God bless you.

I read your book cover to cover and pass it on to everyone I know because you don't take this stuff too seriously. Life, I mean. I have drastically improved everything that goes in my "pie-hole", and have you to thank!

Hello, This is the witch from Florida. Happy New Year, Merry Christmas and all that good stuff. Just now after all the crazyness of the holidays getting around to reading some of your blogs. Thanks for reminding me of what a great place I have. I just finished feeding and healing my family in my vortex and will make sure to spread the love of my witch craft all year. I can only hope that my daughter will learn the power of our witchcraft. She is already a great cook. Hope you are well and look forward to seeing you in March.

I agree completely with Carlene. Because you aren't perfect, it makes what you are talking about accessible. I've read things on Macrobiotics before and felt like I was going to have to eat burdock root and seaweed at every meal! Okay, maybe not, but it felt, just, oppressive.

I'm eating more grains and I'm chewing and I love it. And you, Jessica, I have to thank.

This right here...

"...I’m afraid of being judged because I don’t practice macrobiotics perfectly..."

...is why you are the perfect spokesperson for macrobiotics (for me, anyway) at this time. It's why I was drawn to the podcast, bought your book (you're welcome), and found your blog. Maybe I'm just a product of my generation, but I just know if I hurl myself blindly into a lifestyle of any kind, it's going to last about a week and a half. I'm commenting to thank you for not being perfect, and making this thing seem doable.

(Oh, after I bought your book and decided I wanted to read more, more more? Yesterday I found "The Macrobiotic Way" in with my cookbooks. Apparently either I or my husband bought it at some point...neither of us remembers.)

Ahhhh....this post is three days to the anniversary of a similar man/relationship for me which finally, just finally ended. It wasn't pretty and as much as I kept getting myself up and feeling good I would end up back in the trap. But I also noticed I couldn't stay and always I would start vibrating in and then away from that relationship. This is when I started addressing my fear and reading this post has really helped me remember to be honest about my shame around my ability to practice self love.
I went and listened to that podcast and boy oh boy, you just brought to life the beauty of macrobiotics. In particular when you said that you put a whole grain in the ground it grows!!!!! I have never ever thought of that and it is a poweful vision. Happy New Year Jessica Porter, thanks so much for the honesty and the love you are lacing through the universe.
