I have a mother like that,too. She has loved me through everything and unconditionally (despite her judgments). You are blessed to have this time with her, and there is nothing other than now, despite the need we have to create and dwell on the concept of the passage of time. Macrobiotics gives us a sense of control over our destiny, but in truth we are all dying, some of us sooner than others. Death is okay. Death is good. It makes room for birth and rebirth. And you will stop crying eventually after your mother is gone. My mother is so old now, and it makes me so sad. I wonder how I will ever stop crying when she dies, but when I read your words, I know that I will, although it feels as though my life will end with hers. Be strong, my friend, and remember this: that we all have mothers and that each of our mothers has to die. And her memory will be a blessing forever. And you and I will die, too, and the souls of our mothers will always be with us, just as our souls will always be with theirs. After recovery from my own near death experience with cancer, I trained as a hospice volunteer. I have had the glorious chance to sit with people as they are actively dying and to be completely in the present with them. I can only say that dying is a beautiful thing, as birth is a beautiful thing. And God, however you experience her/him/it, is always with us, and is especially visible when we die. My hope for you and for your mother is peace during this lovely time you have together and peace in her passing. See you in the tropics.
