First Series:  LATE SUMMER COOKING

When: Sundays, from 2 to 5 p.m.

Dates: September 22nd, 29th, and October 6th

Where: My place.  If you register by emailing me, I'll give more details

Price: $60 per class, or $150 for the 3-class series, if paid upfront. 

I love late Summer.  The heat has really settled into the earth, into our bodies, and my freckles feel permanent.  The harvest is coming in, and the squash is sooooo sweet.  We are all preparing to go back to school, to re-double our efforts at work, or to just tuck in for the fall, and yet summer is still lingering… like a good friend who stays late to chat after a good dinner party.   In this class, we will be exploring fantastic creations using all the sweet and stabilizing foods of Late Summer: millet, chickpeas, sweet rice, arame, squash, sweet vegetables, etc.

Second Series: AUTUMN COOKING

Dates: October 20th, 27th and November 3rd, Sundays from 2 to 5

Price: $60 per class or $150 for the 3-class series, if paid upfront.

Oh wait.  I love Autumn, too!  As a redhead, I always looked best against autumn's grey skies, and naked trees of New England (and we gingers need all the breaks we can get!), but here in Los Angeles, fall is a little more subtle.  Still, we are experiencing the strongest contraction of the year in the fall; days get short, nights get long, and we need to learn how to cook in order to support ourselves and our familes through this transition.  We feel pulled into the kitchen in the autumn, and in this class, we will be exploring strong, savory and delcious dishes using the foods and cooking styles of the season: root vegetables, a variety of rice dishes, pressure cooking, kinpira, long-cooked beans and vegetable dishes, delectable and elegant desserts.
